Kochi, July 4, 2007: Nokia, the world leader in mobile communications, today announced the launch of the industry’s first ‘Regional Language news portal’ with Malayala Manorama, a leading south based publication group and Kerala's largest selling newspaper. With this innovative offering, all Nokia GPRS enabled handsets users in Kerala will be able to get national and international news in their native language across categories of news, sports, travel, music, astrology and movies amongst others.

Speaking at the launch Mr. Devinder Kishore Marketing Director, Nokia India said “Mobility has transcended all social and economic barriers and has the potential to become an important cog in the wheel of ‘Inclusive Growth’. As the industry leader, today yet again we have launched a path breaking application ‘regional language news portal’ - a mobile newspaper in your palm, enabling users to view news updates in there native language at their convenience”.

I am confident that this application will be a phenomenal success and will revolutionize the way consumers view their daily news updates. We also believe that this will give a multi-fold adoption to GPRS services in India”.
