FAQ- MASTERMIND 

1. Who all can participate? 
a. School level : 
Students of 9 th , 10 th , 11 th and 12 th standard, studying in any school in Kerala, irrespective of medium or curriculum.
b. College level: 
Students of Engineering Colleges/Polytechnics/Science and Arts Colleges /ITI/ITC/Professional institutions or any other institutes from Govt/Aided/Self financing sectors. 

2. Is there any registration fees? 
a. No 

3. How many students can be in a project team? Do they have to be from the same class? 
a. Up to 5 students. They can be from different classes in the same school. 

4. Who can be guide/mentor? 
a. Any one working in your parent institution who can guide and support the project team. 

5. What type of project do you expect from us? 
a. Any innovative idea in science/technology that can be demonstrated by a working model. 

6. Can you submit a project which has already won prizes in another contest? 
a. No. Financial support will be provided only for projects that are new. 

7. Is it possible to change the team members in between? 
a. No. 

8. Will you accept any simulation study or research paper? 
a. No. We are looking for working models 

9. Is there any age limit? 
a. No. However, participants should be registered students of an academic institution. 

10. How much time is allowed for the completion of the project? 
a. Three months from the date of intimation of selected projects. 

11. How many entries are permitted from a school/college? 
a. No restriction; however, only one project proposal from a team. 

12. Can we take guidance or assistance from anybody? 
a. Yes. However, the idea and implementation are your responsibility. 

13. Will you pay the expenses for the project in advance? 
a. Up to 50% advance (from the assistance of Rs. 7500 for school level and Rs. 10000 for college level) will be provided for the selected projects based on need. After mid-term verification of the progress of the project implementation, another 25% of funds will be provided. The last 25 % will be released on completion of the project, during the final exhibition. 

14. How will you monitor the progress of the work? 
a. Through periodic progress reports submitted by the team and through on-site visit by the monitoring committee members 

15. How will you select the projects for providing financial assistance? 
a. The received project proposals will be scrutinized by an expert committee based on various factors such as innovativeness, cost effectiveness, potential benefit to society etc. Twenty five projects each will be selected at both school and college levels. Selected project teams will be informed by post. 

16. Will I get any technical help? 
a. Apart from financial assistance, the Faculty from the Innovation Entrepreneurship Development Centre (IEDC), Amal Jyothi College of Engineering Kanjirapally, the technical partner for this competition will provide you technical advice where possible over phone. 

17. What are the contact numbers for clarifications/assistance on technical aspects?

18. If my project is selected for funding, what sort of additional benefit can I expect? 
a. Selected projects will highlighted in Yuva/ Padipura of Malayala Manorama daily 
b. There will be an exhibition of the chosen project to be held in January 2011. 
c. Cash prizes are awarded for the best projects selected during the exhibition by a panel of experts. 

19. What type of projects are considered for Prof. Satish John memorial cash award? 
a. Projects that make a notable contribution to human safety (at home, school, work, travel etc.) will be considered for the above special prize of Rs. 60,000 (college level) and Rs. 40,000 (school level).
