Renovated to world class, theaters open for IFFK screening

Thiruvananthapuram: The theaters of KSFDC renovated with most modern projection technology and sound system to screen films of IFFK's 17th edition has been inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy here Friday in the presence of K.B Ganesh Kumar, Minister for Cinema, Priyadarsan, Chairman of Chalachchithra Academy and actor Mohan Lal, among others.
The theaters, Kairali, Nila , Sree, and Kalabhavan with silver screen, 2 K projection and latest 7.1 surround sound system will provide a world class theater experience to enjoy the selected films of the IFFK from this edition onwards. The refurbishment works of the theaters were completed in a record time of four months and at a cost of rupees three crore.
K. B Ganesh Kumar, Minister for Cinema, while speaking on the occasion said that Kerala was the first state in India to have set up an anti-piracy cell which helped in collecting around Rs 300 crore as savings out of anti-piracy measures. He said special ramps will be built in selected theaters for trolleying wheel chairs carrying differently abled viewers to the theaters. They would be charged 25 per cent of the ticket rates.
Actor Mohan Lal on the occasion appreciated the new wave of change in Malyalam Cinema which has helped the entertainment industry come out of its crises.
