Srinagar: National Conference, which has two MPs in the Lok Sabha, on Tuesday authorised its president Omar Abdullah to take a final decision on whether to vote in favour or against the Indo-US nuclear deal when the UPA government seeks a trust vote in Parliament on July 22.

"The core group of National Conference has authorised the party president to take the final decision on the issue of the Indo-US nuclear deal," senior NC leader Abdul Rahim Rather told reporters after a two-hour meeting of party functionaries at Abdullah’s residence here.

Rather said once the party president made up his mind on the course of action to be taken, the decision would be conveyed to the "concerned quarters" and made public. During the meeting, Abdullah discussed with his party leaders various issues in connection with the stand to be taken in the Lok Sabha on Indo-US nuclear deal.

Besides Abdullah, NC is represented in the House by Abdul Rashid Shaheen.
