A Brahmin specialty from the land of Mangalore.
Ingredients 
01. Poppy seeds (khus khus) - 250 g
02. Jaggery -100 g
03. Coconut (scraped) - 200 g
04. Cardamom (green) - 5 g
05. Raisins - 25 g
06. Ghee - 30 g
07. Cashew nuts - 25 g
Preparation 
01. Sauté half the poppy seeds and cashew nuts in ghee.
02. Add the scrapped coconut and grind in a mixer.
03. Roast the remaining cashew nuts and raisins in ghee.
04. Dissolve the jaggery in ample water and strain to free of impurities.
05. Allow the jaggery syrup to boil and add in the ground poppy seeds, cashew nut and coconut mix.
06. When it begins to cook add enough boiling water so that the payasam attains a consistency of your liking.
07. Add the roasted cashew nuts and raisins and serve hot.
