| Making the right moves: She might have stolen a dance with Antonio Banderas, but it has paid off. Apparently, Mallika Sherawat has shot a video with American pop star Bruno Mars in his parody of Salt-N-Pepa’s song Whatta Man (featuring En Vogue) for a comedy web site. The actor claims that the Grammy Award winner, who composed hit singles like Just The Way You Are, has been her favourite. Considering Mars is a name to reckon with, looks like Mallika has got her grooves right this time. |

| Inspired living: Inspiration is a fickle visitor. But, for artist Joyattam Dutta Roy, inspiration is visible in the drudgery of daily life. "I look around me and see human emotions reflected in day to day activities. My works are titled In Search Of, Lost In Thought, etc.," says the artist, who is hosting his show Cardinal Points at Triveni Kala Sangam in New Delhi. His principal medium is acrylic on canvas, though in this show Roy has experimented with a mixed medium, merging photography and art. |

| Laudable act: THE WEEK’s correspondent Sharmista Chaudhury’s story (’Tribal Warrior’, January 30, 2011) on Pallavi Renke, a Mumbai lawyer who left her lucrative career to work for denotified tribals in Maharashtra, has won her the award for the best human interest story at the Laadli Media Awards for Gender Sensitivity (Western Region). The Laadli Awards were instituted in March 2007 by the United Nations Population Fund India and Population First, an NGO that focuses on health and population issues, to promote gender-just perspectives in the media. |
| Mommy do-gooder: It seems Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has reset her priorities. The actor has been named goodwill ambassador for the Joint United Nations programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) on the eve of the 67th UN General Assembly. Her role is to work towards the Global Plan, which hopes to eliminate HIV infections among children by 2015. |
| Stamp of honour: This is one trip that Hema Malini will never forget. The actor was pleasantly surprised when the Norwegian government honoured her with a stamp for her contribution to Indian cinema at the 10th Annual Bollywood Festival in Oslo. She and daughters Esha and Ahana, along with a 15-member troupe, had gone to perform at the festival that celebrated 100 years of Indian cinema. |
| Love and the heir: A Bangladeshi tabloid claims that Pakistan People’s Party chairman Bilawal Bhutto, 24, is in love with Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar, 35. It apparently doesn’t deter him that she is married to millionaire businessman Feroze Gulzar and has two daughters. Although the Zardari government has denied the report, rumours persist that Gulzar has asked the Federal Investigation Agency to track his wife’s call records. |
