Kochi is a major port city of Malabar Coast. It is part of the district of Ernakulam in the state of Kerala and is commonly referred to as Ernakulam.Kochi is the most densely populated city in Kerala. Kochi is known as the 'Queen of the Arabian Sea'.  Kochi is considered as the commercial and industrial capital of Kerala.

മലബാർ തീരത്തെ ഒരു പ്രധാന തുറമുഖ നഗരമാണ് കൊച്ചി . കേരളത്തിലെ എറണാകുളം ജില്ലയുടെ ഭാഗമായ ഇത് എറണാകുളം എന്നാണ് പൊതുവെ അറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്. കേരളത്തിലെ ഏറ്റവും ജനസാന്ദ്രതയുള്ള നഗരമാണ് കൊച്ചി. കൊച്ചി,  അറബിക്കടലിന്‍റെ റാണി എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്നത്.  കൊച്ചി, കേരളത്തിന്‍റെ വാണിജ്യ, വ്യാവസായിക തലസ്ഥാനം ആയിട്ടാണ് കണക്കാക്കുന്നത്.
