Poothadi is a village near Kenichira, Panamaram area in Wayanad district in the state of Kerala. According to local legend, Bhima of Mahabharata, when he was travelling with his brothers, went in search of the flower 'kalyanasaugandhika'. He asked about the flower to a 'raakshasi' in the Malayalam language 'Poovu Tharumo' which eventually became 'Poothadi' It belongs to North Kerala Division .

കേരളത്തിലെ വയനാട് ജില്ലയിലെ കേണിച്ചിറ - പനമരം മേഖലയിൽ വരുന്ന ഒരു ഗ്രാമമാണ് പൂതാടി. മഹാഭാരതത്തിലെ ഭീമസേനൻ തന്റെ സഹോദരങ്ങളോടൊപ്പം പാഞ്ചാലിക്ക് വേണ്ടി കല്യാണ സൗഗന്ധികം അന്വേഷിച്ച് ഇതു വഴി പോകുകയും, ഒരു രാക്ഷസിയോട് 'പൂവ് തരുമോ' എന്ന് ചോദിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു. 'പൂവ് തരുമോ' എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിനാലാണ് ഈ ഗ്രാമത്തിനു പൂതാടി എന്ന പേരു വന്നത് എന്ന് പറയപ്പെടുന്നു.
