ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയിലെ ചെങ്ങന്നൂർ മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റിയിൽ ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന പ്രദേശമാണ് പുലിയൂർ. ‘പുലിയെ കണ്ട ഊര്’ എന്ന വിശേഷണത്തിൽനിന്നാവാം പുലിയൂർ എന്ന പേര് രൂപപ്പെട്ടതെന്നാണ് വിശ്വാസം

Puliyoor is a village in Chengannur municipality in Alappuzha district. It is widely believed that the name Puliyoor came from the phrase "puliye kanda ooru" meaning "Land where the leopard was spotted".
