Kannur formerly known as Cannanore, is a city and a Municipal Corporation in the state of Kerala, India. It is the administrative headquarters of the Kannur district and situated 274 kilometres  north of the major port city & commercial hub Kochi & 137 kilometres  south of the major port city & a commercial hub, Mangalore. 

കണ്ണൂർ ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കേരളത്തിലെ ഒരു നഗരവും മുനിസിപ്പൽ കോർപ്പറേഷനുമാണ് കണ്ണൂർ മുമ്പ് കാനനൂർ എന്നാണറിയപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നത്. കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലയുടെ ഭരണപരമായ ആസ്ഥാനവും പ്രധാന തുറമുഖ നഗരവും വാണിജ്യ കേന്ദ്രവുമായ കൊച്ചിയിൽ നിന്ന് 274 കിലോമീറ്റർ വടക്കായും പ്രധാന തുറമുഖ നഗരമായ മംഗലാപുരത്ത് നിന്ന് 137 കിലോമീറ്റർ തെക്ക് ഭാഗത്തായും ഇത് സ്ഥിതിചെയ്യുന്നു.
