Thalassery is a municipality in Kannur district. Thalassery has played a significant historical, cultural, educational and commercial role in the history of India, especially during the colonial period. Thalassery is called as the city of three Cs-Cake, Cricket and Circus as the first bakery in Kerala was estblished in the city and cricket was first played in India here.

കണ്ണൂർ ജില്ലയിലെ ഒരു മുനിസിപ്പാലിറ്റിയാണ് തലശ്ശേരി, സമുദ്രനിരപ്പിൽ നിന്ന് 2.5 മീറ്റർ മുതൽ 30 മീറ്റർ വരെ ഉയരത്തിലാണ് തലശ്ശേരി സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്നത്.  ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ചരിത്രത്തിൽ, പ്രത്യേകിച്ച് കൊളോണിയൽ കാലഘട്ടത്തിൽ, ചരിത്രപരവും സാംസ്കാരികവും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസപരവും വാണിജ്യപരവുമായ ഒരു പ്രധാന പങ്ക് തലശ്ശേരി വഹിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്. തെക്കൻ കേരളത്തിൽ നിന്ന് വ്യത്യസ്തമായി, തലശ്ശേരി മേഖലയിൽ തടാകങ്ങൾ (കായൽ) ഇല്ല, എന്നിരുന്നാലും നിരവധി നദികൾ ഈ മേഖലയിലൂടെ ഒഴുകുന്നു.
